Make the Call

A client I visited yesterday had recently lost her husband. She was in the middle of selling their house because it was too much for her to handle alone. It was clear how difficult she found it all.

When I was finished with my work, we continued talking…

I told her that my dear dad had recently passed away, which had been tough for the whole family, but especially for my mother. When I mentioned that my siblings and I talk to her daily, she lit up and said:

"My daughter calls me every evening. I look forward to it all day. It means so much!"

One little call. A huge impact.

We might think it's not that important, that it can wait until tomorrow. We might think we have so many other things to do. We might think we have nothing to say or that we'll just have to listen to the same old story again.

But it's so meaningful. You are so meaningful.

Set aside time for that call, even if it’s just a couple of minutes. Being that comforting listener makes all the difference. Make sure to be there in the same way that he or she was there for you all those years.

Make the call!
