There’s something about old stuff. You just point and shoot, and it’s going to look cool. Maybe it’s also about the fact that it’s still around, that it has survived people’s urge to trade the old for the new. A sense of “there’s still hope for humanity”.

A vintage Volkswagen van is parked by the sidewalk, surrounded by trees and small shops at night.

I’m still so hesitant about posting shorter, title-less posts like this one. Even now, when I have robertbirming.com for longer posts. As if this isn’t considered a “real blog post”. It’s stupid, I know.

Anyway, the photo is from an evening walk around the back alleys of Chiang Mai.

A small street food stall with colorful umbrellas is surrounded by people and a person on a scooter at night.

There are so many cool, half-hidden alleys and backyards in Chiang Mai. Around every corner, you find something interesting that makes you stop and take a closer look. It never ends, and I love it. 😎

A narrow urban alleyway is adorned with vibrant graffiti, lit by glowing lights that cast shadows along the ground.

It was just a year ago since I was last in Chiang Mai, and I’ve already spotted some new cool street art I hadn’t seen before. This one’s from yesterday.

You know you’re a design geek when a license plate like this gives you cozy feelings. I spent the rest of the trip trying to figure out the paint hex value. It looked like a solid #232a3c to me.

Day two of the Micro.blog 12 days of winter wonder photo challenge. Today’s word: cozy.

I met this lovely bundle of cuteness while doing a house inspection. One of the great benefits of this line of work is that you get to meet a lot of wonderful pets.

I’m taking part in Micro.blog’s lovely 12 days of winter wonder photo challenge. Today’s word is frost, and this shot is from the south of Stockholm, back in 2023… since frost is nowhere to be seen in this part of Sweden right now, even though we’re neighbors with Santa.

A snow-covered forest landscape features a prominent cylindrical structure with columns in the background.

Spotted this handsome gentleman and asked if I could snap a photo. I’m always a bit hesitant to ask when I’m in Sweden, compared to when I’m traveling. Not so much because Swedes are reserved. I guess it just feels a bit too close to home somehow.

Went out for lunch, ended up at a Slipknot concert. 🎃
