Routine beats word counts

“How long should I sit?”

I’m sure that’s a question most meditation teachers hear a lot. And I’m equally sure the answer often goes something like:

“It’s not so much about how long you sit, it’s about doing it regularly.”

And that applies to most things in life.

If we want to get stronger, we have to stick to a workout routine. Thirty minutes three times a week will get us better results than one long 1.5-hour session once a week. It also makes it easier to stay on track.

The same goes for blogging.

If you’re struggling to write posts, maybe you’re worrying too much about length. Or maybe you’re blogging so rarely that the blank editor feels overwhelming every time it stares back at you.

Change the routine.

Forget about word counts. Set aside a bit of time every day to write — whether it becomes a blog post or not.

Experiment. Explore. Play.

That’s what personal blogging is all about.
