Doing the work
“Many actors want the role, but they are unwilling to do it.”
That’s how Swedish director and game developer Josef Fares puts it. What he means is that once they’ve landed the part, it’s as if the drive is gone.
He contrasts this with actor Torkel Petersson. Torkel shows up days in advance, fully prepared, with pages of ideas. He does the work.
Many believe making movies is nothing but fun, or that success comes from luck and a bit of talent. But talent without hard work almost always fails.
People want fame and fortune, and some even have the skills, but few are willing to put in the hours it actually takes.
Meanwhile, others with no special talent still succeed. Why? They put in the hours. They show up. They do the work.
