A suitcase full of dreams

When I entered the home of today’s last client, there were suitcases everywhere. She explained that the family was about to head off on a long trip. Half a year in Thailand.

It was a dream they’d had for a long time, but it had always just been that — a dream. An exciting idea, but “impossible” in real life. Then something shifted…

“Does it really have to stay a dream? Why would it be impossible? Maybe it could actually work.”

They took time off from their jobs. Found a place in Thailand with a Swedish school for the kids. Rented a nice, affordable house. Rented out their home here in Sweden.

Now they’re on their way to fulfill that long-held dream. Easy peasy, at least compared to that inner voice that keeps saying it’s impossible.

So many dreams never become reality because of that voice. And often, it’s not alone. It’s joined by people around us who echo the same doubts.

But the truth is, we’re capable of so much more than we think. We just need to stop listening so closely to the naysayers, whether they’re in our heads or in our surroundings.

We need to invite our heart to the negotiation table. That true inner voice. The one that speaks with small letters, but can accomplish great things.

Let’s set those imprisoned possibilities free.
