Micro.blog Wishlist
It’s been a couple of weeks since I moved my blog to Micro.blog, and it’s been a nice experience so far. I like the possibilities the platform provides without having to come up with half-baked workarounds.
But, as with any platform, there are some things I miss. Here are some that first come to mind for me:
Category Description
I’d love to add some text to the categories I create. Nothing fancy, just a simple description with Markdown support.
Footer Customization
The footer is such an essential part of any website. I’d like to be able to edit it without having to mess with templates. Just like the “About me” setting on the Account page, I’d love to see the same for the footer under Design.
URL Editing
I’d like to be able to edit the post slugs. Preferably, having the option to also exclude the date, but even something simple would be welcome. A setting like “Prettify URLs - automatically exclude conjunctions from slugs” would be a nice improvement.
Post Embedding
It would be great to have the possibility to embed post lists on any page or post using shortcodes. It would open up so many possibilities. I love how Bear does this.
Discover Improvements
On other platforms I’ve used, I loved checking out the discovery section (and still do on some). But not with Micro.blog. It almost feels like an abandoned part of the site at times. And yet, it has so much potential with a platform filled with inspiring bloggers.
Those are the ones that first come to mind from a fresh MB user like me.
