Conquering the Dread

It was a pretty stressful and long day at work today. After work, I usually do a short yoga session at home, but today I was really, really dreading it. Somehow, I still managed to tear myself away from all the interesting feeds and do a few minutes.

What struck me was how quickly my attitude changed. From not being in the mood at all, it changed very quickly to feeling quite good. It wasn't like I was cheering, but it was still a long way from the negative attitude I had at first.

After training, I always write. The same thing there after today's tiring work; I really wasn't in the mood. But I reminded myself of the yoga experience and started writing without having anything to write about...

Very quickly, things loosened up on that front as well. It might not be a fantastic text, but at least something gets written instead of nothing. And when it’s time to write again, it’s far easier to go from something written than nothing written.

What I'm trying to say is that those negative feelings and doubts rarely match up with how things really are. If we can just push through, it's way easier and more satisfying than letting those negative voices get to us.

The difficult is usually easier than we think.
