Seeing the Bigger Picture

The other day, someone pointed out that I had lost weight.

I said that it's a matter of perspective – and I didn't mean that I look extra slim from a certain angle.

It's true I've lost weight compared to six months ago. However, someone who hasn't seen me in two years might say I've gained weight, which is also true from that perspective. The bigger picture, literally.

Opposites, yet both true.

We often overlook this paradox when judging ourselves, don't we? We look back six months and see setbacks rather than successes. But if we widen our perspective and look back a couple of years, we'll likely discover we've made significant progress.

Every setback holds considerably more successes.

Let's not forget that.
