Micro.blog Wishlist #2

It’s been less than two months since I posted my Micro.blog Wishlist, and already three out of my five wishes have come true:

  • Category description
  • Footer customization
  • Post embedding
  • URL editing
  • Discover improvements

Nice!

I’m still wandering around, pressing buttons and finding hidden corners in this new home for my blog. I love how much is possible here, but there are still a few things I’d like to see.

Move between blogs

When you have multiple blogs, which is possible with the Premium plan, I wish there was a way to move content from one blog to another. Now that I’ve decided to keep a separate photo blog, such a feature would’ve been very useful.

Drafts

Sometimes, for one reason or another, I want to change a published post or page back into a draft. I’m surprised this isn’t an option. Maybe there’s a reason. But in my mind, it’s one of those features that should just… be there.

OG images

I’d love to see automatic creation of open graph images for posts, kind of like how Good Enough does it with Pika. Another option could be to allow uploading your own OG image when creating a post.

Post / page

Sometimes I want to turn a page into a blog post, and sometimes the other way around. It would be nice to have that flexibility, like on Bear Blog, where you can simply set the attribute is_page: false. Micro.blog uses a different URL structure for posts, so I get that it might not be straightforward.

None of these are dealbreakers, but they’d be nice little upgrades.
